Anderson County is located in the northwest corner of South Carolina, in the portion called the “Upstate.” It is separated from northeast Georgia by Hartwell Lake and is bordered on the east by Greenville County and the city of Greenville. It is bisected by Interstate 85 and is located halfway between Atlanta, Georgia, and Charlotte, North Carolina, about two hours from each.

The Anderson County Airport can accommodate private and corporate aircraft. It is located west of the city of Anderson along S.C. Highway 24. The closest commercial airport is the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport, located between Greenville and Spartanburg about 40 miles north of Anderson along Interstate 85. It currently is served by these airlines: Delta, Northwest, US Airways, Continental, United Express and American Eagle. Also close are Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport and Charlotte/Douglas International Airport.
